I have to admit, Katie’s last post left me a little damp eyed! Yes, I’ll admit, I almost teared up reading back through her experience of that special day when we finally found out! It is an amazing feeling after trying for so long but it also feels very surreal, a feeling that we’re still dealing with.

Things have been moving along slowly, we count each hour, each day, each week and we’re anxious to see our next sonogram and hear that little heartbeat again. Speaking of sonograms, we recently had our 12 week sonogram which included some groovy 3D video captures. I hadn’t seen one of them before and was amazed at the clarity of the video, you can actually see arms waving and a hint of a face every now and then.

Apparently little Paper Grape had his, or her, face planted warmly into the placenta (what a great mental picture!) and he/she didn’t exactly feel like being captured facing forwards so most the images are side on or facing P.G.’s back.

If anyone wants to see little P.G. in his/her first movie then you can view our little vid below… (Warning: The music is extremely cheesy!)

My turn!

Martin and I have not been very good about updating our blog, I must say! Martin filled you in up to a certain point, but I thought I would just kinda give you a rundown from my point of view, and then get caught up on what’s been going on. Sound good? Well….good!

When I tested on March 31st, it was kind of a fluke. I had said all along that I wasn’t going to test till Easter Sunday, because I didn’t want to test too early and be disappointed. But, lo and behold (self control has never been my strong point), I found myself peeing in a cup at 4:00 PM on March 31st and following all the directions for the home pregnancy test. I waited the allotted time, and then I casually picked up the test without looking at it and walked into the living room, and I will never forget it, I was standing by the front door and I saw it…the faintest line. It was so faint in fact, that I thought I was just psyching myself out, but after doing a double and triple examination it was definitely there. I remember just shaking and thanking God, because there had been some confusion as to whether or not I had actually even ovulated on that cycle. Well, SUCKAS, I ovulated all right and I was PREGNANT!!! : )

Telling Martin was so cool, because I actually did it in a interesting way this time (See Martin’s Post). His face was priceless, because he read the “I love you, Martin…., “and then kept turning the mug until it said “You’re going to be a DADDY!!!!,” and it just didn’t even register. He smiled at me because he thought it was sweet that I had finally got around to decorating his mug but didn’t really get the message. Then he quickly read it again and I saw the exact moment it hit him like a ton of bricks!!! Such a beautiful moment with my beautiful husband. Makes me smile just thinking about it!

Our Reaction (A Recreation of Real Events!)

Anywho, we’ve been walking on air ever since, and honestly it doesn’t really even seem real to me yet. I am exactly 13 weeks today, and we’ve seen little Paper Grape’s heartbeat about 5 times so far and it just never ceases to astound me. Seriously!!! That little wiggle worm is inside me…I’m really growing another person. Surreal!

Everything has been good with us and the little one up to this point, all ultrasounds look good and the heartbeat is always strong. Just keep us in your prayers and thoughts. The only funny thing that’s been going on here really recently is that I haven’t had a lick of morning sickness this whole time. Some nauseousness, but no up-chucking. Well, last Thursday night I got to say hello to my dinner again. And then again, Saturday night…Katie meet Toilet Bowl, Toilet Bowl…Katie. And again, this morning directly after breakfast. I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to notice a disturbing vomity trend here. Is vomity even a word? Oh well, everything is fine otherwise, no upset stomach, fever, cramping…I just eat and then directly after I’m like…oh I need to puke. There you go, I guess I’ll move on since I’ve exhausted my store of different ways to say vomit. Insert throat clear and gagging noise here!! : )

Well, folks, I’ve given you the complete low down on everything Holland Baby. I promise the next blog (who knows when that will be), I’ll post some belly pictures and get you up to date yet again. I must say not too much going on in the bel-bel region, it just looks like I’m sporting a wicked beer gut…sexy!!! Oh, btw, Paper Grape is our chosen moniker for the little one for the time being. Paper Grape would be our baby name if Martin and I were oh-so-fabulous celebrities, and is just our way of poking fun of the crazy names that people choose for their children…but it’s really starting to grow on me.

See you next time, and have some patience with us as we try to get on the blogging ball!!
