MARCH 31st 2010!!!!

Possibly the best day of my life, I got home from work and Katie handed me a big coffee mug (the type you can write your own message on)… I stood there looking at the mug and it took a while for me to absorb the message that Katie had written, it said: “Congratulations, You’re Going to be a Daddy!”

After a year of hoping and praying we finally were pregnant again and I couldn’t believe it.

Katie led me to the bathroom where she showed me a collection of test strips which all showed beautiful positive results!

Our first few days after the amazing news were filled with frequently catching ourselves smiling too much and actually being able to watch TV shows with babies again!

We started cleaning the house a lot more and actually started a list of chores to help us get organized. A visit to the book store loaded us up with fresh baby books and we actually started to allow ourselves to believe that this was THE big event. We noticed several swings in our behavior;

1. We both felt tired all the time (I used to be the only one who felt tired but now Katie was right there with me)

2. We visited the Antique Mall on Hwy 377 and actually left without buying anything!

3. Our appetites were almost at the same level but Katie had occasional nausea in the mornings…

4th April 2010

Easter Sunday rolled around and instead of chocolate and bunnies we had morning sickness and bean burritos, a sure sign that our lives were changing.

5th April 2010

Our Monday involved a visit to the Doctor where we gave a blood sample to confirm the pregnancy, we couldn’t wait for the official results (Although we already had about 20 positive test strips!)

6th April 2010

We got our results and things look great, progesterone level was 36 and HCG was 513.

7th April 2010

Another Doctors visit today for more blood work! Mimi brought us some awesome baby clothes too :)

8th April 2010

Blood work came back and our levels were nice and healthy, HCG had increased to 1479 which was more than double in two days…

10th April 2010

We got a call from Kayla today and she said that Madison had some important news…  Madison was convinced that we are having twins, she elaborated on her prediction saying that Katie is having a girl and Martin is having a boy! I guess I need to lay off the donuts for a while!!

11th April 2010

Katie got really sick today and we think it may have been from eating a bad egg left over from Easter, we later on found out that stomach flu had been going around…

14th April 2010

We got more blood work results back today and HCG levels were 11073 which was great, we have an ultrasound scheduled for next Thursday…

16th April 2010

Cravings for “Double Trouble cookie cakes” were present but we came to discover that “Double Trouble cookie cakes” are tooooo sweet, even for a pregnant gal!

22nd April 2010

FIRST ULTRASOUND… It was the best experience ever, we didn’t expect to see much but lo and behold, there was our little bean, he/she almost filled the screen, we saw blood flow and then to our amazement we heard the heart beat. It was the most beautiful sound we have heard and it was a healthy 136 bpm.

OK, so we fast forwarded slightly! Lots has been happening, we decided to get our home office moved out of the upstairs bedroom and into a new closed in patio, we got bids for the work and are ready to go. We had another ultrsound today and it was amazing, we never get tired of seeing the little guy, or gal, on the screen!

20th May 2010

OK, we’re almost caught up, we keep setting our appointments for a Thursday afternoon which is awesome because we get the fancy ultrasound machine and it’s nice and quiet. This time we actually saw lil “Paper Grape” waving at us and doing back flips! His / her heartbeat was abo0ut 167 and we put that down to us walking up the stairs instead of catching the elevator, we were also super excited to see the little fella again! Our nurse April also showed us the babies brain segments and I gotta say, he / she is going to be a smart little bugger!

Our Week 10 Ultrasound, we saw hands waving and back flips!
